A sit-in protest staged at Thoubal Tangjeng today has lamented that the security forces by leveling wrong charge of harbouring militants, the right to life of a local man has been violated.
Thoubal police commandos picked up Yumnam Kumarjit (35) of Kiyam Leikai Lai Haroabam at around 11 pm of February 22 from his home on the alleged charge of harbouring PREPAK militants.
Decrying the charge level against Kumarjit, the womenfolk of the area where he hailed from staged the sit-in protest today.
Talking to reporters, the mother of Kumarjit, Mangolnganbi while strongly turning down the charge leveled against her son said police picked him up from home saying that they have a matter to talk with him and sent him to jail by issuing order to detain him under NSA.
No arrest memo was also issued at the time of his arrest.
The attitudes of the police commandos keep the mothers in dark, she said.
He is a government servant serving as supervisor in the state science and technology department, the protestors said while demanding immediate revocation of the order detaining him under NSA.
The also threatened to launch several forms of agitations till the demand of conditional release of Kumarjit is fulfilled.
The womenfolk also expressed strong condemnation to the police commandos beaten up of persons they nabbed after bringing in their locality and appealed the concern not to do it in future.
