Governor greets people on Mahavir Jayanti

Governor Gurbachan Jagat has extended his greetings to the people, particularly to the Jain brethren on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti to be celebrated tomorrow.
The teachings of Lord Mahavir set aside all social boundaries of caste and creed and left behind an eternal message of peaceful co-existence of mankind as a whole, the Governor reminded in his greeting note urging the people to pledge and follow Mahavira's ideal of "Live and let live" which has become more and more important in the world today.
Meanwhile, Shree Digambar Jain Samaj, Paona Bazar said that all shops, business establishments and other institutions belonging to the members of the Samaj will remain closed tomorrow (Saturday) on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti.
The Samaj also greeted the people of the state on the occasion with a prayer to the Almighty to bless all to create a culture of peace, justice and healing, and communal harmony among all people in Manipur having diverse religions and traditions based on the concept of the teachings and principles of Lord Mahavir.
