Deserted UG's father shot at; Woman found killed

Imphal, November 10 2010:
Unable to find a cadre who deserted the group, suspected armed cadres of Kuki Liberation Army (KLA) shot and injured to the father of the cadre in the leg in interior Churachandpur district.
Armed cadres who came to the house of the deserted cadre on Monday night ad shot at once in the leg when they could not find his son who deserted and reportedly joined another rival group, police said Wednesday.
The incident occurred at Thingkangphai village in the interior Churachandpur district and police came to know only when the 52-year father, Hangkhopao was evacuated at district hospital for medical treatment yesterday.
Apart from injuring the father, suspects also fired several rounds towards the house making uncountable holes at the wall, reports said.
Meanwhile, dead body of a woman with several marks of torture on her body was retrieved by Loktak Police of Bishnupur district today morning from a deep gorge at Leitak hill.
Later, the identity of the deceased woman was established as Lamkhoning (40) daughter of Khongjaram Kuki of Thongkhophai village.
Family as well as police is yet to know the motive behind the brutal murder of the woman.
After post mortem was conducted at RIMS morgue, police handed over the dead body to the family this afternoon.
On the other hand, militants hurled a hand grenade at the house of an executive engineer of electricity department at Uripok Polem Leikai under Imphal police station around 11 am today.
The hand grenade which failed to explode was recovered by the police from the house of the engineer, Leishangthem Joychandra and disposed off at an open place around 12.25 pm, police said.
