DIPR team explores Tuilha Kol waterfalls

Directorate of Information and Public Relation, Government of Manipur organized has concluded its 3-days expedition to 'Tuilha Kol' waterfalls located at Chalwa village along IT Road in Kangpokpi.
Tuilha Kol which literally translated to (Tuilha-waterfall and Kol- hill/mountain) waterfall mountain is an enchanting hill ranges which have three waterfalls.
The expedition which started on July 4 was organised with an objective to explore and document the water falls, which are the major source of the rivers in the region.
To reach the waterfalls, the expedition team passed through a dense forest amidst roughed terrain.
The people of Chawla village are blessed with nature's bounty.
This small village with 250 households is the abode of Tuilha Kol waterfalls.
There are nearly thirty villages surrounding Tuilha Kol waterfalls.
The waterfalls measures appx 400 ft high, said the team.
To reach the waterfalls, one has to cross two hill ranges.
The team came across a place where stones were piled up around the trees.
The villagers informed that it was the work of their forefathers during British rule.
The stones were laid for resting purposes to further advent the tracking.
The DIPR team met the villagers and interacted with them on many issues regarding the village.
The villagers expressed their desire to have a veterinary centre to look after their catties as their income depends on cattle rearing.
The villagers also appealed the Government to instal one health sub-centre in the region.
They also expressed their gratitude to N Kayishii, Minister of Tribal Affairs and Hill Areas & Fisheries Department and Letpao Haokip, Minister of Youth Affairs, Sports & Irrigation and Flood Control for their visit and their assurance to look into the issues of the village.
The villagers further expressed their strong aspiration for developing Tuilha Kol waterfalls as a tourist destination.
