Permanent member of Congress Working Committee (CWC) and the North-East in-charge of All India Congress Committee (AICC), Luizinho Faleiro is expected to arrive in Imphal on November 11 to observe the prevailing situation of the state and the working of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC).
Source from the MPCC said that the Congress leader will review the enrolment of Congress members in the state in connection with the election of office bearers and leaders of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) slated for next year.
Luizinho is also said to observe on the ongoing agitations launched by two JACs, Apunba Lup and three students' organisations in connection with the Khwairamband incident on July 23, the source revealed.
It further added that Luizinho will assess the poll preparedness of the MPCC for the coming Yaiskul Assembly Constituency by-poll.
Meanwhile, the source revealed that there have been around five contenders among the Congress members to contest the by election in Yaiskul AC, which has been laying vacant after the demise of Congress MLA and Deputy Chairman of State Planning Board, Elangbam Kunjakishore.
The source, however, refused to name the five Congress members who are said to have been seeking approval of the Congress High Command.
The Congress has not yet decided the party's candidate for the coming by-election.
The source added that the party would surely field its candidate when the election nears.
