Project Director of Macha Leima Micro Project suspended

An emergency executive meeting of the Manipuri Chanura Leishem Marup (Macha Leima) suspended its Project Director of Micro Finance Project, LC Bethebi wef December 24 for indulging in corrupted activities in cooperation with its expelled president N Gunileima.
In a press meet held at its office at Palace Compound, General Secretary, T Demona said that new executive committee members were elected in November 2009.Demona was elected as General Secretary on November 14 .
President Gunileima who also took charge on the same day soon collected all the official seals of the office and kept them in her custody.
When demanded to give them back their seals, she excused herself by assuring them to make new seals.
She along with LC Bethebi began mishandling office funds as if the NGO is run by her.
In the following days, Bethebi used the passbook of the office on her own.
She also refused to show the accounts of funds and profits of Micro Finance Project to other executive members.
A resolution drafted by Bethebi's husband Bhogen was regulated in the office on July 23, 2009 .
When inspected, the resolution included decision of making Bethebi, Project Director of the Micro Finance Project of the office until she is 60 years old.
Above these, Gunileima, Bethebi and Bhogen bought Birla Suns Life Insurance Policies of Rs 99,347 each for themselves by using fund of the office.
They also bought insurance policies in the name of loanees of the micro finance project.
They also operated the bank account of the office by either or both of them without any consent and knowledge of the executive members.
They also organized Renewable Energy Day in association with MANIREDA on August 20 last year without knowledge and consent of the executive members.
They also mishandled the amount of about Rs 3 lakhs which MANIREDA sanctioned in the name of Macha Leima for organizing the observation.
Gunileima was suspended from the post of President on August 30 last year.
But she along with Bethebi transferred more than Rs 11 lakhs from the office's account in SBI to their personnel account in IUCB Ltd.
Moreover, Bethebi instigated loanees of Micro Finance Project against the office which resulted to loss of office properties during a mob on December 30 last year.
Bethebi has been mishandling the recovered loan amount from her taking charge as Project Director till September 1 last year.
T Demona appealed to its loanee to maintain usual relation with the office and repay their loan regularly.
