Two candidates have filed their nominations today for the Lok Sabha election in inner Manipur constituency slated for April 22.Thus making the total figure of the candidates filing nomination to three.
CPI's candidate for inner, Dr M Nara and Independent candidate, Nongmaithem Homendro have submitted their nomination papers today to the Returning Officer of inner Manipur and DC of Imphal West district, A Ibocha.
N Homendro, who remained out of the limelight till today, has filed his nomination today coming in a passenger auto-rickshaw.
Meanwhile, CPI candidate, Dr M Nara was accompanied by Health Minister, Ph Parijat and various other CPI workers of the state.
The nearest rival of the CPI would be the Congress in the coming election, Dr M Nara predicted while talking to media persons after submitting his nomination.
Responding to a query, Dr Nara said that the issue of repeal of AFSPA in Manipur will be the main issue the CPI is going to raise during its campaign for the run upto the 15th Lok Sabha.
He said that the facilitating political solution to the insurgency related problems and solving of unemployment problem in the state will also be the agendas of the party while also appealing all to ensure that the coming election is conducted in a free and fair manner.
Retired IGP, A Rehman has already filed his nomination couple of days back.
Five other candidates are expected to file their nominations in days to come.
