Imphal, March 29 2010:
A meeting of the State Cabinet which is scheduled tomorrow is set to take a definite decision on finalising the signing of a tripartite agreement between the Centre, the State Government and the KCP-MC (Lallumba group) to go ahead with peace talks.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, a highly placed source said that the meeting of the State Cabinet to be chaired by the Chief Minister has been convened tomorrow to discuss the matter as the UG group has accepted the two conditions that were put up from the side of the Union Home Ministry.
The two conditions that the Ministry placed before the UG group are surrendering of arms by the cadres and to shun violence.
Both the conditions have been accepted by the UG group.
If the Cabinet meeting tomorrow give its approval to signing of an agreement to go ahead with the tripartite peace talks, then the Centre and the State Government would sign the tripartite agreement with KCP-MC (Lallumba group), the source added.
It may be noted here that Central and State Government officials had held several rounds of meeting with the UG group at Delhi as well as in Imphal.
On the other hand, it has been decided that after surrendering of their arms the UG cadres of the group would be housed in the camp of 8th Manipur Rifles at Leikun in Chandel district.
Tomorrow's Cabinet meeting is also likely to discuss the issue of signing an MoU to hand over the task of running the Central Diary Plant at Porompat which is under the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry to the All Manipur Milk Producers' Co-operative Society.
