Imphal, September 26 2011:
In continuation of its drive against price rise in the state due to the ongoing economic blockades on the National Highways by the SHDDC and UNC, the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) today conducted price checking drive at shops in Imphal city.
During the drive, many shops were found to be selling essential commodities above the reviewed price by the government.
A volunteer of AMSU who participated in the drive told reporters that the reviewed price by the state government and the businessmen will not be accepted by AMSU and the people of the people.
In many cases, the reviewed prices of some items were found much higher than the price submitted by the businessmen.
The government in the name of giving relief to the trouble torn people of the state is taking the sides of the businessmen.
Meanwhile, a press release of AMSU today demanded the transporters to clarify on the allegations of the businessmen that the transporters are responsible for the prevailing price rise of essential commodities in the state.
