Healthcare delivery status in the state was reviewed today at a one-day camp relating to availability of healthcare services organized by the Manipur State Legal Services Authority, Imphal today at the conference hall of District and Session Court, Uripok.
Managing director of Shija Research Hospital and Research Institute, Dr Kh Palin who talked as resource person on the topic 'Life Style Diseases' at the camp observed that weaker and poor people in the areas are yet to get proper healthcare facilities as no scheme like that of National Rural Health Mission (NHRM) taken up in these areas.
Even though healthcare delivery system in rural areas somewhat improve since the coming up of (NHRM), the same in the urban areas remained the same with no such programme which would avail the weaker and poor urban residents is taken up so far, he said.
Living conditions of people in the urban areas are seemed to be improved only outwardly.
But the fact is that majority of people are very poor and as such even though there are many healthcare centre.
They have no means to afford the fee for treatment in these healthcare centres, Dr Palin asserted.
By the impact of various developmental works taken up, residents of urban areas are suffering from various kinds of diseases.
Due to lack of proper planning, many diseases are broken out in the urban area, he observed.
Dr Y Indibor who talked on the topic 'Risk factors and early detection of breast cancer' said that breast cancer, one of the most dreaded diseases of the woman, can be cured if detected at the early stage.
So, if there is doubt, they should consult experts immediately.
District and Session Judge Manipur East, Ph Surendra who is also the member secretary of the Manipur State Legal Services Authority, Imphal, secretary of the All Manipur Bar Association, Y Priyokumar were among the dignitaries seated in the dais.
