General Secretary of Indian Youth Congress, Nyamar Karbak, who is also the Kerala and North East in-charge of the Congress party today announced proposal of the political party to launch the IYC's Aam Aadmi Siphai (AAS) scheme in about 3/4 months.
Interacting with newspersons at the Congress Bhavan here today, Nyamar said members of the Youth Congress would be nominated to ensure proper functioning of the AAS scheme.
He also confided that Youth Congress members would also be entrusted with the task of monitoring whether the UPA Government's flagship programmes such as the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, NREGS and RTI are being implemented in an efficient manner and whether such welfare schemes are extending benefit to the masses.
Regarding the recent appointment of Moirang AC MLA Mairenbam Prithiviraj as president of Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress, Nyamar said the State legislator was among 370 Indian nationals short-listed for the post at their respective States.
the total figure after being trimmed to eight incumbents who were intimated to attend interview at Delhi, he said while adding that AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, who is also in-charge of the Indian Youth Congress directly appointed Prithiviraj as the MPYC president.
Such direct appointment is very rare in the annals of the Congress organisation, Nyamar added.
speaking on the occasion, Prithiviraj said plans are afoot to host a national executive committee conference of the Congress party's North East region in Manipur.
He further conveyed that Rahul Gandhi has consented to attend the regional conference.
