Pujari hurt in temple blast

Imphal, August 19 2014:
A powerful bomb explosion which took place in the intervening night of August 18 and 19 at Thakurbari Mandir, Mantripukhri under Heingang police station in Imphal East district, left at least one person injured.
The bomb believed to be an IED planted by unidentified miscreants exploded at around 12:45 am of August 19 .
The person injured in the blast has been identified as Punal Sahu, (17), s/o Sunil from Bihar but currently staying at Mantripukhri.
Punal is the pujari of the mandir (temple) where Janmasthami was celebrated.
The injured boy was admitted to Raj Medicity, North AOC where a minor operation was conducted on him for a splinter injury on his stomach and was later declared to be out of danger by doctors.
The incident occurred when worshippers were trying to throng the temple to offer late night prayers at the temple on the occasion of Krishna Janmasthami.
The explosion also caused damage to a mini truck which was parked nearby.
