FREINDS reacts

While reacting to the statement of All Jiribam Muslims' Welfare Association published in local dailies, the Federation of Regional Indigenous Societies (FREINDS) stated that the statements and records published are all false and fabricated statement.
FRIENDS, in a statement signed by its publicity secretary, W Shanta Meetei, revealed that the March 13, 1908 was a holiday and no durbar was held on the day.
Moreover there was no king Dumbra among the 76 kings, from the reign of Meidingu Pakhangba to Churachand Maharaj.
Manipur was merged in Indian Union on October 15, 1949 and permit system was lifted on November 18, 1950.Before the merger, all migrants were taken as outsiders and imposed certain taxes on them.
While the report published in local newspaper about the illegal migrants was not fabricated in any way by FREINDS but it was the report based on finding by reporters who witnessed during the tour.
The tour was part of FRIENDS' yearly survey on the inclusion of illegal migrants in the voter list of the
state.
It also appealed to the state government to pay attention in the matter and identify the illegal migrants.
If not checked in time, Manipur will meet the same fate that of Tripura, the FRIENDS warned.
