The 7th two day long Zeliangrong Folk Dance Festival-2009 organised by the Society for Promotion of Community Trust concluded today at Swombung Damdei in Imphal east district.
State health and family welfare minister, Ph Parijat and President of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Gaikhangam presided over the function.
MLA T Mangibabu also attended as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Ph Parijat said that people residing in a state together should not be divided religions they followed.
Keeping behind the difference in religion, people should live in harmony as human being.
Gaikhangam said that to preserve and promote own culture and tradition is the bounden duty of the people of the community or tribe.
But in the effort to promote it, one should not hurt the sentiment of others.
He further said a community or tribe is to be shown by its culture and tradition.
Despite different religions are followed by people of the same group they should not neglect their culture and tradition.
Those groups who neglected their own culture and tradition will never be developed.
The concluding function was marked by presentation of old folk songs, dances and dramas of Zeliangrong Communities by various troupes.
