Imphal, October 29 2010:
Three persons have been arrested by the Imphal east district police with 4000 litre of diesel and 19 LPG cylinders on the alleged charged of illegal store of the items.
Wahengbam Rojit (31) son of W Indra of Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai, Ahanthem Gunindro (36) son of A Mangi and Lairikyengbam Kiranjti (35) were picked up by the police with the items during raids conducted at their respective houses yesterday.
They recovered 2000 litre of diesel from the house of Rojit.
Nineteen LPG cylinders, 16 refilled and three empty were seized from Kiranjit's house.
And 19 barrels of diesel were recovered from Gunindro's house.
They were fuel supplier to mobile tower operators.
Even though they disclosed that they procured the item from Senapati for onward supply to the mobile tower operators.
However, police said that they horded the items without prior permission from the authorities concerned.
They have to obtain prior permission from the DCs concerned and from the Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution.
Police have registered three separate cases against them.
Further, police rounded up 10 persons selling petrol and kerosene on the streets in Imphal area today.
Police seized a total of 200 litre of kerosene and 20 litre of petrol.
