The Congress party's candidate for inner Manipur seat in the ensuing Lok Sabha election, and who is also the sitting MP of inner Manipur, Dr T Meinya has avowed to work for the people of the state in accordance with the party's manifesto in case he is re-elected.
On his return from New Delhi, Hueiyen Lanpao caught him at the Imphal Airport today wherein he also said that he will strive to complete the works which remain pending during this term.
On being asked his takes on the threat issued by a particular militant group to Congress party workers, the Congress Lok Sabha MP from inner Manipur appealed the concerned not to repeat the threat in future.
A warm and impressive reception was accorded to Dr T Meinya today by Congress workers of Konthoujam assembly constituency and various MPCC officials at the Imphal Airport.
Heading straight towards the MPCC Office located at BT Road here, the Congress nominee for the coming general election has met various officials of the MPCC including the MPCC President, Gaikhangam and Chief Minister, O Ibobi.
However, no Congress MLA and Ministers have turned up to congratulate and wish him.
It may be recalled that Dr Meinya and Singjamei MLA, I Hemochandra have keenly contested for the Congress ticket for the coming election.
Several Congress MLAs and Ministers had lobbied for the ticket by camping in New Delhi in recent weeks.
Expectation was high on I Hemochandra to get the ticket until the minute of the announcement of its candidates by the AICC couple of days back.
