State works minister, K Ranjit today said in the house of the state Assembly that, the ongoing improvement work of section of the Nh-39 from Singjamei to MU gate Chanchipur will be completed by February next year in reply to a question raised by opposition MLA, O Joy of MPP.
Opposition member O Joy wanted to know the reason behind the delay in the improvement works of the portion of the highway which was started four year back.
In reply to the question, works minister K Ranjit said, the works has been delayed due to the innumerable disturbances coming up in the working and delay in the release of the funds.
Still, the construction work of drainage on both side of the highway could not be started as land to be acquired is yet to complete, he added.
He also said that the estimated cost of the improvement was Rs 7.23 lakh and a contractor named N Jilla is handling the work.
However, it is targeting to complete by February next year.
Giving reply to another question raised by MLA, Ng Bijoy of MPP, Ranjit said there is provision for black topping the portion of the NH-150 from Lamlong Bazar to Chairen Thongkohng but there is no plan to widen the road portion for the time benig.
He also said that the improvement works of a 35 km long road connecting Kamjong and Kangpat in Ukhrul district is undertaking by the PWD department with Rs 1.73 crore fund under SPA in a reply to the question raised by MLA, Wungnaosing Keishing.
