Imphal, September 09 2012:
A 3-day Orientation/Training of Pilgrims for Haj-2012 being organised by Manipur State Haj Committee commenced from today at Madrasa Alia (Markaz-E-Tabligh), Lilong.
The function was graced by Chief Minister O Ibobi; MLA Md Amin Shah, who is also the Chairperson of the Manipur State Haj Committee and Agricultural Minister Md Abdul Nasir as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that major communities should under no circumstances look down upon the minor communities and stigmatized them.
India, being a secular country, never considers any religion as superior to another religion.
Every individual is given the freedom to practice his own religion.
It is because of this secular outlook of India that the country stands proud among other countries of the world.
"As the Chief Minister of the state, I will not tolerate discrimination of any community," Ibobi said, adding that despite following different religions, different groups of people have been living together in peace and harmony in the state.
The Chief Minister also appreciated the efforts of Manipur State Haj Committee in organizing training for pilgrims for Haj and observed that it is a right step.
