Even as the Magisterial Enquiry on the Khwairamband Bazar incident on July 23 is beginning from Tuesday, the government authority has decided to seize all local newspapers including Tehelka.
A notification [DM (IW)/1/497/ME/09] issued by the District Magistrate of Imphal West, A Ibocha - who the state government has appointed to conduct the Magisterial Enquiry - stated that the enquiry will be conducted at the Court Room of the District Magistrate, Imphal West, Lamphelpat.
The DM of Imphal West has also informed all concerned to give oral evidence or produce any material or document in connection with the Magisterial Enquiry into the incident that occurred at BT Road area on July 23 before August 10 .
According to source available with this newspaper, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Imphal West district will supervise the enquiry.
A meeting in this regard was held this afternoon till 8.30pm by Police officers of the district at the district police headquarters.
The meeting was also attended by police officers of City Police Station who registered an FIR in the case on July 23 .
Higher rank police officers were also said to have instructed the City Police officers in the case during the meeting.
The police have also decided to formally seize all newspapers copies published between July 24 and July 27 .
The police may also officially seize the contents (story and photos) of Tehelka relating to the Khwairamband incident, the source disclosed.
It added, the police may also compare the story published and broadcast in Manipur media from July 24 to July 27 and that of Tehelka.
