Attempt to kidnap JAC Secy of Bus Owners' Assn foiled, 2 held

Imphal, July 31 2014:
Two persons who attempted to kidnap the Secretary of JAC Tiddim Road Bus Owners' Association were reportedly apprehended by Imphal west Police last night.
In protest against the attempt to kidnap its secretary B.Dhanabir Sharma, the JAC Tiddim Road Bus Owners' Association has stopped bus services along Tiddim Road from today.
During a press meet held at the community hall of Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai today, the JAC president Abujam Babu narrated the attempt to kidnap B.Dhanabir Sharma (47) who is the secretary of the JAC and informed that a person called up Dhanabir on his mobile phone at around 9 pm on Wednesday inviting for a talk on the current controversy between Winger and Bus services along Tiddim Road.
The appointed place for talks was at Keisampat Junction.
Suspecting foul play, the JAC informed the Imphal Police station of the appointment, said Babu and added that Dhanabir along with some members of the Association went for the conversation at around 9.30 pm.
Around 10 persons in military and civil dresses who were waiting for them along with two vehicles tried to kidnap Dhanabir, but the Police could prevent their attempt, Babu narrated.
Among the kidnappers, two persons were reportedly apprehended from the spot.
They have been identified as David Lahmenthang Paite from New Lamka and D.Lamkholet Haokip, President of CCpur Imphal Taxi Owners' Society.
The 2 arrested persons are under interrogation, he informed.
