'Gaikhangam unaware of flagship programmes'

If the assassination attempt on Phungyar MLA, Wungnaoshang Keishing was launched by the NSCN-IM, then they are betraying the GoI since both sides have been holding peace talks for the past decade, MPP leader Okram Joy said today.
Laying the foundation stone of a VIP gallery which will be constructed at a cost of ' 10 lakh at Lilong Chajing Makha Leikai Kangjeibung today, MLA O Joy said the assassination bid was a major defeat of the SPF government.
He said that the incident has been a shocking and unfortunate incident in the history of the state.
The incident was a solid example of poor security arrangement of the present government.
The MLA was not issued bullet proof vehicles for the programme.
It seemed that state Assembly and state Home Department had some communication gap regarding the programme.
MLA Wungnaoshang was attending a one day convention on HIV/AIDS organised by the Manipur Legislature Forum for HIV/AIDS.
Although there is an AR post near the spot of the incident, they did not give any positive response regarding the incident, he said.
Reacting to MPCC president Gaikhangam's speech in the party's flagship training programme, Joy said that Gaikhangam seems to be unaware of the situation and progress of his party's flagship programmes.
He is misleading the innocent people of the state by saying that there is almost no opposition in the state since the Congress works sincerely, Joy added.
The party had failed to give any positive response during the recent assembly session when opposition members enquired about its flagship programmes instead they are misleading innocent people in remote areas by claiming that they are promoting their programmes in these areas.
Although the MGNREGS has reached its 8th phase in other states of the country, Manipur is still lingering in the 6th phase.
Disunity among the congress party has become a major hurdle for the scheme in Imphal West.
Moreover the NRHM is almost paralysed in the state, he said.
It may be mentioned that the VIP gallery is being built under a special programme of MAHUD at a total cost of ' 10 lakh.
Construction works of Bio Diversity site at Heibok hill, Hiyang Hiden, renovation of Chandranadi river and other transport and water supply schemes will be completed soon.
An amount of ' 7 crore is already sanctioned for the projects, MLA O Joy said.
