UG re-arrested in AR assault case

Imphal, April 19 2011:
Sekmai police has formally re-arrested an UG in jail after his earlier arrest in March, 2011 in connection with a case registered with the PS related to an assault on three AR personnel six months back in December last year.
On December 7, 2010, three personnel of 5 AR travelling in civil dress on a bus from Senapati to Imphal on NH 39 were attacked by some unknown persons armed with knives after the bus was hijacked.
The bus (MN01-0740) was hijacked from Khonghampat to Khamaram village along with the passengers and the three AR personnel were picked out and assaulted.
In the assault, two personnel, M Punamarama and P Mukesh received serious stab injuries while Prem Singh escaped with minor injuries.
Taking serious note of the attack, AR as well as police has been investigating into the incident.
Sekmai police in further investigation into the case taken up as a Suo Motu case re-arrested a KCP cadre.
He had been arrested earlier by Moirang police on March 17 on the charge of being involved in the explosion of a bomb at the house of an assistant engineer.
Arrested Angom Ibochaoba @ Lanchaiba @ Punsiba @ Bocha (37) son of A Ibochouba of Moirang Khoiru Leikai, an UG activist has been in jail after he was pointed out as one of the accused of being involved in an explosion carried out on the house of AE Konjengbam Raishwor of Moirang Mairenbam Leikai on May 26, 2010 .
The explosion inflicted injuries to a 12-year old boy, a police source said.
He was produced in the court of Imphal west CJM and taken into remand for six days, the source said today.
