Imphal, August 09 2009:
A team of leaders of Manipur People's Party (MPP) led by its president Dr Nimaichand Luwang today paid a visit to the house of slain Chungkham Sanjit at Khurai Sajor Leikai in Imphal East district and met with the aggrieved family members.
It may be recalled here that Sanjit was killed in a fake encounter by the police commandos at BT road on July 23 last.
During talks with the family members, MLA of Khurai Assembly Constituency, Dr Ng Bijoy said, Chungkham Sanjit was a youth who was leading a simple life at home.
When he he was going to purchase medicines for his sick uncle, a few security personnel who recognised him had taken advantage, he said.

President Dr Nimaichand Luwang reiterated that MPP has condemned the killing of Sanjit and also shares the grief of the family over his death.
"If we all were to believe the CM's statement given in the House, we would have still believed that Sanjit had killed Rabina Devi and hurt five other inoccent civilians," Dr Nimachand said.
However, since the Tehelka had exposed the incriminating clues, may be by Devine intervention, now everyone knows about the incident and it was a fake encounter, he said.
The MPP president further said that an innumerable number of people had been killed during the days of Ibobi.
The party is trying to find out how many of the killings were fake encounters and would apprise the union government of the findings.
He appealed to the public to be prepared to submit affidavits to the commission of judicial inquiry when it calls for the same from the public.
The movement of the MPP and that of the civil society organisations were the same, Dr Nimaichand said and appealed to all concerned to make a concerted effort to bring about a peaceful situation in the state.
He also gave two thousand rupees only as a little help from the party's side to Late Sanjit's mother.
Chungkham Ongbi Inaotombi Devi, mother of Late Sanjit, said during the meeting that unless and until Chief Minister O Ibobi resigns from his post and the guilty police commandos were imprisoned for life, the family will not conduct the Shraddha of her son.
On the other hand, convenor of JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Chungkham Sanjit in Fake Encounter, Anita told the MPP leaders and the media persons that police commandos had threatened her on phone.
Last night at about 11.30 pm, threatening SMS was sent to her mobile phone, Anita said.
Despite all such attempts to gag her, the people's movement will not back out, she said.
The stipulated time given by the JAC for its demands to be fulfilled was over on August 8 .
Since the government has failed to take up necessary actions, the JAC will launch various intensive forms of agitation, she announced an appeal to the people to support the movement.
