Congress has been suppressing the minorities and ill-treating them always during their reign, said MPP nominee in the fray, Th Choaba speaking during his election campaign at Lilong today.
Chaoba, a common candidate of the new alliance group, the Manipur Democratic Alliance in the inner constituency of the Lok Sabha said Congress has always been against the minority Muslims while the MPP is always protecting the community.
He said, the ensuing Lok Sabha election is an important one and if weak and unqualified candidate is voted, the sufferings being experienced by the people will worsen.
Criticising the present state government of its indifferent governance, Chaoba said, the prevailing law and order situation is really bad and people are scared of going out even during the day time.
During the seven years' rule of the Congress in the state, innumerable number of civilians had been killed, it is like the seven years' devastation in the history of Manipur, he said and added that the state has become a "war field.".
He also blamed the Congress for imposition of AFSPA, 1958 in the state and said since the imposition of the Act, the government forces are killing people in the state.
The government is failed in all fronts right from essential services like water, power apart from the bad law and order situation, he said adding the ministers are all remain doing contract works for amusing their own wealth.
Speaking at the meeting, MLA RK Anand urged the people to vote to MPP candidates so that state can be save from devastation saying "We need taking a firm decision of our own".
While the world is worried about the killer HIV/AIDS epidemic and here, security forces are killing people in non-restrain way, Anand said adding that the number of people killed by security forces would have exceed to those killed by HIV/AIDS in Manipur.
He also said that the AFSPA was repeal from the Imphal area by the government unable to bear the pressure of the people when ministers were asked to resign.
