COUNCIL OF Higher Seccondary Education, Maanipur today distributed awards to the position holdder students in this year Highher Secondary Leaving Cerrtificate Exam, 2009 connducted by the board.
Speaking on the occaasion as chief guest, state edducation minister, L Jayenntakumar announced that government will take up step to impart training on teaching method to every teacher.
The award distribution function was also attended by former chairman of the council, S Chaoba and secretary of the council and also looking after the charge chairman, H Nabachandra as president and guest of honour respectively.
Awardees of this year were positions holders of arts were first position holder, Nongthombam Gunibani of Enlighten Knowledge Higher Secondary School, second position holder, Khundrakpam Nilita of TG Higher School, Imphal and third position holder Dipali Sanasam of TG higher Secondary School, Imphal.
For the science stream were first position holder Saityam Takhellambam of HRD Academy, Gari, second position holder Somorendro sana of Royal Academy and Pukhrambam Suraj and third position holder Chabungbam Swimni of HRD Academy, Gari, Sidartha Khuraijam of the same school and Konthoujam Priyananda of Stadard Robarth School, Canchipur.
Awardees of the commerce stream were fisrt position holder Meishnam Sinapal of Shri Digambar Jain Mahabir Higher Secondary School, Imphal, second position holder, Babli Sharma of Reban College Churachandpur and third position holder Paochahao Haokip and Megha Jain of Shri Digambar Jain Mahavir High School.
The first position holders got a cash award of Rs 3000 each with citations and a book each, second position holders were awarded a cash award of Rs 2000 each with citation and book while third position holders were honoured with a cash of Rs 1000 each, citations and books.
Apart from this students with fourth to tenth position holders of arts and science were encouraged with citations and books.
Speaking on the occasion state education minister L Jayenta informed the gathering that recently Union ministry of human resources has directed the state government that teachers of all the higher secondary, both private and government should be trained one.
So, government is planning to impart training to all the higher secondary teachers within a short period.
He also suggested the teachers to look into awarding marks at the time evaluation of answer scripts to avoid giving high mark by some teachers and meager mark by some others.
He also said that a workshop for teacher for evaluation of papers will be conducted at the earliest.
He further said that despite getting good education, if students do not know responsibility, there is no need for learning.
Chairman in-charge, secretary H Nabachandra of the council who spoke as guest of honour said that the council will look into the evaluation and marking system of the council as suggested by the experts.
He also announced that the council has planned to award gold medals to the position holders of the exam conducted by the council.
