BJP workers storms Thoubal DC Office

Imphal, February 17 2011:
BJP workers today storm at Thoubal DC Office as part of party's protest against price hike and demanding timely distribution of PDS items, payment of wages of MGNREGS and to stop fake encounter.
The BJP workers of the district led by BJP State Unit president Santikumar marched towards DC office and shouted slogans in front of the DC office.
Security personnel posted at the office closed the gate and prevented them from further proceeding to the office.
Later three members of BJP including Santikumar and Thoubal district president L Deven met the DC and handed over a memorandum for onward submission to the Governor.
Later, speaking to media persons, L Deven said that the people of the state are putting in a difficult situation due the uncontrolled hiking of prices of essential commodities.
While goods prices in other states recorded only 10 percent, it was 30 to 40 percent in the state.
Corrupted officials are not giving wages of MGNREGS properly to the job card holders.
APL and BPL cards of Thoubal district are not renewed since 2007, he said.
He further demanded government to stop fake encounter.
