Imphal, April 16 2011:
The ambush on Phungyar MLA Wungnaoshang was laid by NSCN-IM cadres led Lt Paoshim of the Kishimung Battalion of the outfit alleged the Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) while expressing condemnation of the life attempt bid.
In a statement signed by its publicity and information secretary Maxstone and dispatched to the local media here today, the outfit further alleged that the ambush was laid only to please the Government of India on whom the NSCN-IM leadership bend to for personal gains ignoring the sacrifices made by thousands of Naga soldiers for an independent Nagaland.
Leaders of the NSCN-IM had fooled the Naga people in the name of bringing peace in the region by signing a ceasefire and amassing wealth of their own, the statement asserted.
The Government of India and NSCN-IM ceasefire does not cover Manipur but still the NSCN-IM has been setting up various camps in the hill areas of the state at the behest of the Assam Rifles.
Both Manipur and India governments know it very well, the statement said fixing the responsibility of the ambush on the Government of India.
As a representative of the people, MLA Wungnaoshang had demanded creating Phungyar into a district taking into account the plight of the people of the four sub-divisions of Phungyar.
If the life attempt on the MLA was related with the district demand, then are they going to eliminate those who are demanding district status for Jiribam and Sardar hills, the MNRF asked.
The statement further questioned the NSCN-IM whether killing each other of the same blood in collusion with Indian security forces is the other objective of the outfit, alleging that NCSN-IM has been making efforts to disintegrate the region into fragments in the name of integration.
The statement also warned those "few people" who are interfering in the internal matters of Manipur to stop their activities immediately.
