Imphal, November 09 2010:
Former minister RV Mingthing today reminded of the inseparable relationship between the hills and valley while speaking as chief guest at a function held at Hongman Tangkhul village to mark the 66 birth anniversary of Chingsubam Akaba.
The function was jointly organized by Hongman Baptist Church and Chingsubam Akaba Ningshing Lup.
Mingthing observed a reducing trend of the idea of co-existence among the people of hills and valley in the state.
"It is not like before," he said expressing concern over the prevailing trend.
Time has come to sit together for an exchange of ideas of a harmonic co-existence amongst the peoples.
He recalled Chingsubam Akaba as a leader who worked for strengthening the ties among the hills and valley people.
He had taken major roles in bringing closer ties among different communities residing in the state.
Today Chingmi and Tammi seem to remain far away from each other.
If this gap is widened further how can the state be governed? There is the need for building up a strong relationship among the peoples keeping aside differences of religion and communities for living in harmony.
Recalling that it was during the reign of Yangmasho Shaiza that Assembly approved the Meetei Mayek, Mingthing said that he himself had introduced the bill in the Assembly to pave the way for inclusion of the Manipuri language (Meetei Mayek script) in the eighth schedule of the Indian Constitution.
This showed that there were no ideas of separation among the leaders of the yesteryears.
The 66th birth anniversary function was attended by Ng Yumjao, member of the Chingsubam Akaba Ningshing Lup, Ashui Jimmick, M Laba and among others.
