Imphal, April 03 2009:
The Zeliangrong community living in Manipur would vote for the BJP candidate, D Loli Adanee in the coming Parliamentary election, ex-minister and noted historian of Manipur, Gangmumei Kamei said.
Speaking during an election related public meeting held today at the Tangkhul Naga Long Ground at Ukhrul district headquarters, which was marred later by heavy downpour, Gangmumei Kamei said that the sitting MP of outer Manipur, Mani Charenamei has been attempting to thwart the efforts of the Government of India and Manipur Government in appending recognition to Zeliangrong, the nomenclature of the cognate tribes of Zemei, Liangmei, Rongmei and Puimei.
So he must not be re-elected.
Mani Charenamei has hurt the sentiments of the Zeliangrong community through his action, so Zeliangrong people residing in Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Chandel and Senapati will vote for the D Loli Adanee.
Gangmumei said that that Mani Charenamei has misled the people by expressing his desire to bring in peace by sitting together with the MPP while the Nagaland People's Front (NPF)'s Z Loho wants to integrate all Naga inhabited areas based on the manifesto of the PDA.
He said that people should not cast their vote in favour of person like Mani Charenamei.
Addressing the meeting, N Tombi of Heirok in Thoubal district said that Loli Adanee would win this time with the huge support from various voters.
Tombi said that Loli was given arousing welcome when he visited the seven assembly segments of Thoubal district with blessings from several elders.
Tombi maintained that Loli Adanee has often visited the seven constituencies of Thoubal district while Mani Charenamei had never visited the district at least for once while assuring that Adanee will get half of the votes in Thoubal district at the minimum.
Mani Charenamei's father-in-law, DP Panmei has also spoke during the public meeting.
However, rain god began playing spoilsports to the meeting as it come to an abrupt end owing to heavy rain.
The meeting was graced by several leaders like ex-minister Selkai Hrangchal, Dr M Horam, TNL President Ramthing Hungyo, ex-minister RV Mingthing, et al.
