Imphal, October 02 2012:
Objecting to the alleged plan of Government of India to declare 'Dima Hasao Territorial Council' instead of North Cachar Hills district in order to appease the Dimasa militant group, Zeliangrong Baudi,(AMN); Zeliangrong Youth Front (AMN), All Zeliangrong Students' Union (AMN), Zeliangrong Baudi (ZB), Manipur and Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur (ZSUM) have announced a 24-hr total bandh in all the Zeliangrong areas in the State of Assam in N.C hills district as well as in the state of Manipur in Tamenglong district and Zeliangrong areas of Churachandpur and Senapati districts and Peren district of Nagaland on 4th October 2012 .
In a joint statement, President of ZB (ANM) Raitu Chawang, President of ZYF (ANM) Titus Kamei, President of AZSU (AMN) Pamei Tingenlung, Chairman of ZSUM Stephen Disuang and Thomas Kamei of ZB, Manipur contended that the Govt of India's attempt to appease a single community's demand whose population is confined in limited areas and having less population than the other indigenous communities is to suppress the Zeliangrong people and other indigenous communities living in the North Cachar hills district by politically reflecting Dimasa as majority and other communities as minorities.
