Demanding safe and early release of the abducted Deputy Manager of FCI (Dimapur) R Sadashivam staff of FCI, Irnphal launched a cease-work strike from today.
Representatives of FCI Imphal Staff Welfare Association said that truckers also refused to unload the rice and wheat lifted from Dimapur at the FCI godown here to protests the abduction of the officer.
The stir by the staff and truckers is likely to affect the food supply in the State if the officer is not released immediately, said the Association during a press briefing as its Yaiskul Police Lane office.
Sadashivam was kidnapped yesterday by unidentified gunmen near Khongkhang on the Imphal-Moreh route.
He is in the State to inspect on the functioning of FCI and initiate measures for smooth transportation of foodstuff.
