A restaurant owner was shot by some unidentified persons inside another restaurant at Ghari Awang Leikai, Tidim Road at about 11.40 am today.
Moreover, mobile phones and wallets of some customers were also confiscated.
According to information received by press, two unidentified youths came to Ruby Restaurant at Ghari Awang Leikai on a Bajaj Super scooter (MN04/4600).At the time they entered the restaurant, its owner Thiyam Binod (26) was not present there.
His younger brother Sushil (17) and a cook were looking after the restaurant.
Soon after, the unidentified youths called out all the male customers and made them sit in a row with their face turned towards the wall.
There were 12 customers (6 men and 6 women) at that time.
As the two were confiscating mobile phones and wallets, owner of Sonia Restaurant located at Ghari Makha Leikai Phamdom Rojit alias Inaocha (20) came into the restaurant asking if anything was wrong.
The two youths and Rojit had some heated altercations after which the duo drew out a 9 mm pistol and led Rojit inside the counter.
There Rojit was shot in the right thigh.
The bullet exited below the knee-cap.
Then the two quickly drove away from the scene towards Kwakeithel side, When Ph Rojit was rushed to RIMS, the party was asked to admit Rojit in OPD saying that there was no doctor in the casualty ward then.
Immediately, Rojit was taken to Shija hospital where he is being treated.
About a fortnight back, in a similar incident, mobile phone handsets and wallets were confiscated by unidentified persons from the customers at Eden Garden Restaurant located at Ghari.
Altogether 7 seven mobile phone handsets were confiscated by the unidentified persons today besides wallets.
