Imphal, August 22:
An investigation team of KCP has pulled up four persons who were passing off as members of the proscribed outfit in an attempt to extort money from some departments under the Government of Manipur.
One demand letter served to Command Area Development Authority (CADA) in the name of KCP has also been seized from their possession.
The four imposters are identified as Ayekpam Deben (41) s/o Ayekpam Ibobi of Langdum Awang Leikai, Thokchom Robindro (36) s/o Thokchom Jugolkumar of Naharup Mayai Leikai, Asem Roben (36) s/o Asem Amuchou of Langdum Awang Leikai and Naorem Jugol Mangang (57) s/o (l) Naorem Yaima of Heingang Awang Leikai.
Ayekpam Deben is said to be working as a male health worker in the Medical Department.
Parading all four of them before mediapersons in a valley area today, a spokesperson of the investigation team of KCP informed that at the behest of gang leader Oinam Sanjoy alias Piba alias Boy of Yumnam Khunou, who also identified himself as Lakpa the finance secretary of KCP (Lankhomba Group)', the four imposters served demand letter for Rs 1 crore and 10 percent cut from JN Hospital fund, Rs 20 lakhs along 10 percent of the projects fund to Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS), Rs 5 lakh to Adhyaksha of Imphal East and Rs 5 crores from CADA along with 1.5 percent of the monthly salaries of the employees and 5 percent of the annual budget of the department, supplies and projects.
Besides, they were also trying to get contract works in the name of KCP.
During the course of interrogating them, it has been learnt that over and above holding the post of finance secretary of the gang, Sanjoy alias Piba also acts as vice president in-charge of the gang while one Amu alias Mangoljao of Awang Khunou is the president of the gang.
Oinam Sanjoy and Samu alias Mangoljao have been arrested by Delhi police personnel from Delhi some time earlier.
The extortion attempt of the gang even while the restriction imposed on serving monetary demand from Government departments and the people is not only unfortunate but also intention to tarnish the image of KCP, the spokespersons said adding that such anti-social elements should be cleansed and people should extend their support and co-operation to KCP in this regard.
People and the Government offices should also not entertain any monetary demand from the side of Lankhomba or Lakpa.
Instead they should be rounded up and punished if they ever come with such demands or report the matter to KCP so that necessary action can be taken up.
The spokesperson informed that Ayekpam Deben, Thokchom Robindro, Asem Roben and Naorem Julon would be handed over to their respective family members after giving proper advice as first warning and to give a chance to reform themselves.
However, if they fail to heed the warning and continue to indulge in such activities in future to defame KCP, then the party would not forgive them.
The spokespersons further informed that the identities of all the other gang members working under Lankhomba have been established and they should surrender to the outfit within seven day from today.
Otherwise, they should face the consequences.
The spokesperson also sought the co-operation of the people in rooting out the gang of Langkhomba which had already been banned by UNLF, PREPAK and KYKL which are going along with KCP.
The four imposters confessed to their mistakes and admitted the charges levelled against them while promising to stay away from such activities in future.
