The schedule visit of Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta, who would be arriving here tomorrow, to Moreh to discuss issues related to border fencing and setting up of integrated check post has been cancelled due to inclement weather condition.
The meeting, however, would be, held at Imphal.
Ahead of the arrival of the Union Home Minister, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today reviewed the law and order situation of the State and a meeting of the Combined Head Quarters was also convened.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, an official source said Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta would be arriving at Imphal tomorrow morning along with Joint Secretary NE (MHA) Nabin Burma and Joint SecretaryNE (Border Management) GS Patnaik.
However, the schedule visit of the officials to Moreh to attend a meeting there to discuss issues related to border fencing and setting up of integrated check post has been cancelled due to inclement weather.
Instead the meeting would be held at Imphal.
After his arrival, the Union Home Secretary would called on Governor and Chief Minister to review the law and order situation in the State as well as to discuss matters related to border fencing and integrated check post.
After a joint meeting with the State officials, the Union Home Secretary would leave Imphal tomorrow itself by an Indian Airlines flight.
Meanwhile, ahead of the scheduled visit of Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta tomorrow, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today morning reviewed the law and order situation of the State during a joint meeting attended by Chief Secretary, DGP, IG and SPs of the valley districts.
Accordingly, the State Government has also prepared a report to be submitted to the Union Home Secretary on the law and order situation of the State.
Later during the day, a combined headquarters meeting was also held with Chief Minister in the chair to discuss the law and order situation.
the meeting was attended by representatives of polic, Army, AR, BSF, CRPF and Intelligence.
According to another official source, Union Cabinet Secretary KM Chandrasekhar has communicated to the State Government of his proposed visit to the State on October 25.However, the purpose of his real visit has not yet been revealed.
Decongestion : To solve the problem of congestion in market areas of Imphal due to entry and parking of vehicles, a meeting chaired by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh this afternoon has discussed steps to restrict entry of vehicles of any sort by providing a separate parking lot.
Attended by PDA Chairman, DGP, Commissioner (Transport), Chief Town Planner, SP Imphal West and DSP (Traffic) among others, the meeting has also given necessary instructions to the authorities concerned for taking up necessary measures to shift the parking lot from the market area to elsewhere.
