Imphal, April 15 2011:
Youth Affairs and Sports, Physical Education Teachers' Association (YASPETA) has urged upon the authority concerned to take up befitting against all those involved in burning in the department's office along important documents including Annual Confidential Report (ACR) for Graduate PET at the earliest .
Speaking to media persons at Johnstone Higher Secondary School here today, Th Tomba of YASPETA said that the association strongly condemned the act of arson at the department's office.
He asserted that the YAS Directorate including the administrative section was dominated by untrained staff for more than 30 years.
They did not want Physical Education Teachers to be promoted to higher posts and join the administrative section.
The post of Deputy Director of the Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports was lying vacant for the last two years.
However, on August 28 last year, 13 lecturers were upgraded and from among the senior most lecturer with 5-6 years of experience was appointed as Deputy Director in-charge.
But the Youth Affairs and Sports Employees' Association formed by some few untrained and trained (which was only for 10 months) staff was opposing promotion of the senior most Lecturer as Deputy Director in-charge.
Tomba maintained that the Deputy Director in-charge is a well experienced and well trained qualified teacher.
ACR for the 119 PET Graduates which were burnt down on April 12 was crucial for their career.
But with the destruction of the ACR, all the efforts of the PET Graduates have been rendered meaningless.
If the authority fails to take up befitting actions against the perpetrators of the April 12 arson, Youth Affairs and Sports, Physical Education Teachers' Association YASPE-TA would be constrained to launch all sorts of agitation, Tomba warned.
