A total of 909332 voters are set to cast their votes across 1223 polling stations to decide the fate of 9 candidates in the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency for which polling will be held tomorrow (April 16) .
To ensure that the polling passes off peacefully about 720 security sections are on the round the clock vigil.
Nine candidates including sitting MP and DPA candidate Mani Charenamei are in the fray.
The other candidates are BJP's Loli Adanee, INC's Thangso Baite, NCP's LB Sona, RJD's M Yamkhongam Haokip, Lok Jan Shakti's Thangkhangin and independents Valley Rose Hungyo, Rose Mangshi Haokip and Lamlalmoi Gangte.
Voting will be held from 7 am to 4 pm and security has been tightened.
Civil police, MR, IRB and para-military forces numbering 720 sections will be on duty to check violence and untoward incidents.
Polling personnel put on duty have reached their destinations.
A total of 6115 polling personnel will be deployed on duty across 28 Assembly Constituencies including the seven Assembly segments in Thoubal and Jiribam.
1242 vehicles including heavy vehicles will be used in the first phase election.
Out of the 1226 polling stations, 334 have been identified as hyper sensitive while 734 have been put under the sensitive category.
At the three Assembly Constituencies in Kangpokpi ADC, that is Kangpokpi, Saikul and Saitu which together have 141 polling stations, 80 sections of para-military force will be put on duty.
At the 130 polling stations in Tamenglong district, 89 sections of para-military force will be deployed while at Ukhrul the security strength will be 40 sections of CRPF, 62 sections of BSF in addition to State forces, 80 sections at Chandel while it will be 167 sections at the seven Assembly segments at Thoubal and Jiribam.
