The general strike affected daily chores with commercial establishments downing shutters for the day and the normally congested Khwairamband Keithel resembling a deserted look with the exception of few vegetable sellers seen anxiously waiting for customer.

According to sources, normal activities at Senapati and Ukhrul district came to a standstill as vehicles stayed off the road, educational institutions declared holiday and shops remained shut.
Reports culled from Tamenglong, Chandel and Churachandpur suggested that market places in these district headquarters were also deserted even though some shops were open.
Commercial activities in Thoubal and Bishnupur districts were also affected to some extent, mainly due to absence of transport system.
Meanwhile, Action Committee Against Tipaimukh Project (Actip) challenged the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh to an open debate on merit and demerit of the dam besides accusing the SPF Govt of compromising interest of the State people.
Contending that approval of the O Ibobi Singh Govt for construction of the dam had been taken without taking into account the massive structure would wipe out settlers in the periphery of the project, ACTIP questioned wisdom of O Ibobi contending that his predecessors had opposed the project.
