Imphal, November 03 2009:
In line with the resolution of the meeting held at BOAT today, DESAM has appealed to all school authorities to re-open schools and resume normal classes.
Speaking to media persons at their head office today, DESAM president LC Santosh maintained that they need not respond to the irrelevant charges hurled against them and some other organisations by the organisations currently undertaking the movement for protection of human rights.
Responding to these organisations would amount to burying all future movements for protection of human rights.

If they don't have the strength and skill to undertake a movement, they should learn more before inviting shameful consequences, Santosh asserted.
To knock the conscience of New Delhi and wake up Sonia Gandhi, a strong movement like that of June 18 is required, Santosh said while questioning as to why the Apunba Lup, AMSU, MSF and KSA are not organising such a forceful movement.
If the movement cannot reach the scale of June 18, any movement that reaches half of the intensity of June 18 movement would be enough for New Delhi to pull down O Ibobi just as New Delhi revoked ceasefire extension to Manipur soon after the June 18 movement, the DESAM functionary asserted.
Saying that toppling Ibobi is no difficult task for Congress, the DESAM president asked as to why the Apunba Lup and the three student organisations are not striving to affect such changes.
If they would not be launching forceful movements, they should not disturb education, said Santosh while appealing for lifting the class boycott movement.
There is no guarantee that the people would not turned against the agitating organisations for continuously depriving students of education.
Even as they accept that the agitation is justified, people may stand up to save education.
Such eventuality would be most unfortunate for the whole Manipuri nation, Santosh cautioned.
It would be an added quality of the leaders steering the movement if they can carry on the movement without affecting normal live of the people.
Other sectors may suffer because of people's movement but sacrificing education would mean loss of everything, the DESAM president asserted.
Saying that normal classes have resumed in some schools in accordance to the resolution adopted during the public meeting held at BOAT yesterday, Santosh appealed to school authorities to resume normal classes from tomorrow.
He also appealed to teachers to conduct classes regularly.
Meanwhile, the DM College of Science Students' Union has intimated all students of the college that normal classes would be resumed from tomorrow in line with the resolution of the BOAT meet.
Class resumes in Thoubal district: Following the meeting organised by DESAM at BOAT yesterday where it was resolved that normal classes should be resumed immediately, some schools located in Thoubal district have re-opened and resumed classes.
However, the number of students attending class was very low.
As such, the schools closed much earlier than normal after conducting some classes for the students who were present.
Nevertheless, school authorities have declared that normal classes would be resumed in full from tomorrow.
A team of DESAM activists together with media persons went around in different places to see which schools have re-opened.
During the tour, different schools and colleges located in Thoubal district were seen opened but the number of students attending class was minimal.
But many of these schools and colleges have been conducting classes since earlier.
Even though some schools have re-opened in Thoubal district, a large majority of schools located across the valley districts remained closed till today.
