One more terror has struck Assam today resulting in the death of scores of people. In two separate incidents today at least 12 persons, including a bomber, were killed in two in Assam since the wee hours of Monday.
According to an official source the Dimasa tribe based insurgent outfit Dima Haolam Daoga (Black Widow faction) ambushed a convoy of 14 cement-laden trucks at Lonku near Doyangmukh in restive North Cachar Hills district on Monday around noon killing seven persons including five paramilitary troopers.
Two of the victims were civilians.
All of them died on the spot..The security personnel were escorting the convoy of trucks.
The militants opened indiscriminate fire from a hilltop taking the jawans by surprise, police said.
They said the militants decamped with five weapons four AK 47 and one Insas rifles. The police attributed the attacks to sheer frustration in Black Widow militants.
The frustration level has increased so much that they were targeting anything and everything, IGP Khagen Sarma told NNN.
Every point of road in NC Hills has become an ambush point because of the terrains, the IGP added.Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles is understood to have decided to go all-out against the Black Widow. The outfit renewed its attack since April 7, targeting passenger and goods trains.
Three persons had died in the attacks on the trains.
It may be mentioned that work for two central projects East West Corridor and railway gauge conversion in NC Hills remained stalled since last year in the aftermath of a series of attacks on labourers at work site.
In a separate encounter, Army personnel gunned down five militants three from National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) and two from Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam (MULTA) in Sonitpur district in the wee hours of Monday.
