Imphal, October 16 2010:
The proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has officialy confirmed the arrest of its Chairman Sana Yaima @ RK Meghen by a joint team of Bangladesh intelligence and India's intelligence agency Research Analysis Wing (RAW).
Keeping the arrested Chairman of the UNLF without disclosing details of the arrest and his whereabouts for so many days by the two governments of Bangladesh and India is an act of kidnapping and international terrorism, the UNLF has said.
Vice Chairman of the Front, Kh Pambei, in a statement e-mailed to the press today, said that people have come across a somewhat vague report about the arrest of UNLF's Chairman Sana Yaima on the BBC News and a section of Indian media.
The news was also published in Manipur's newspapers too.
The same news appeared in a daily newspaper of BangaladeshKaler Kontha.
People of Manipur must be curious to know the truth from the UNLF, which the Front also feels it obligatory, the Vice Chairman said.
Therefore, the UNLF would like to place certain facts about the incident before the people, he said.
Kh Pambei related that on 29 September last, around 12.30 pm, Chairman Sana Yaima was travelling on his own vehicle, Regn.
No. Dhaka Metro G-17-0716 in Lalmatia area under Mohammadpur Police Station in Dhaka when a combined team of India's RAW and Bangladesh intelligence arrested him.
While he was driving the vehicle in the crowded area, some persons in uniform and some in civvies had stopped him, which was informed to his men on phone about 10 minutes before he was to reach home.
He had given that information to our men from inside his vehicle.
As soon as our men received the information, they rushed to the area and confirmed reports from people nearby that the security agency had arrested a person along with his vehicle, Pambei said.
He further said that in connection with the arrest of the Chairman, a report was submitted to the Mohammadpur Police Station and an FIR No.1981 dated 29/09/10 had been lodged.
Moreover, a report on missing person was published in two daily newspapes of Bangladesh namely, Yugantor and Inquilab.
The Central Committee of the party deliberated on the incident and the Vice Chairman submitted a written memorandum to the Bangladesh government urging it to release Chairman Sana Yaima while enlightening the government on the justified liberation struggle.
However, in defiance of international norms, the two governments of Bangladesh and India conspired and concealed the arrested Chairman for so many days without informing the people of Bangladesh and the world about it, Vice Chairman, Kh Pambei said.
He said, thus hiding a person in their custody without letting the people know about his whereabouts for so many days is an act of kidnapping and international terrorism.
The two governments are engaged in such lowdown behaviour.
Thus, after detaining Chairman Sana Yaima for over 10 days, special flight of India had taken him to an undisclosed place in New Delhi and had been handed over to India.
This was reported on October 13 on BBC and a section of Indian media.
But the way the governments of Bangladesh and India had carried out the operation, as it was a covert thievery, the two governments have not been able to boldly announce the arrest to the people, and would not be able to do so, Kh Pambei said.
He further said that having captured Chairman Sana Yaima in a surreptitious coup, the Indian government has not disclosed how he was arrested and where he is being detained so far.
This is the usual modus operandi of colonial Indian imperialism.
This is the same uncivilised attitude being shown by India to the people of Manipur.
This is an act of self violation of the laws framed by India with regard to the arrest of a person, detaining him in judical custody and put him on trial.
This is also the act of carrying out anything as they wish which shows the accurate activity of a colonial rule.
Certain countries are joining hands with India in such acitivities, Vice Chairman of UNLF, Kh Pambei said.
Such cowardly activity of India would never be able to wipe out the liberation movement of Manipur and the North East but would only strengthen it, Pambei said and asserted that the party accepts the challenge thrown by India and is prepared to face it.
Even though the leader has fallen into the hands of the enemy, the entire cadres and armymen of UNLF and its army MPA would whole-heartedly follow the path led by the Chairman and fight with renewed vigour for freedom of the motherland, Kh Pambei declared.
