The JAC and family members Sunday evening after meeting chief minister O Ibobi had agreed to accept the body of Y Krishnadas after the chief minister had agreed on the ultimatum demands of the JAC and family members which also included the arresting of the culprits on time and a befitting punishment given.
Thousands of people turned up from the deceased's native place, Kakching in Thoubal district to fetch the body of the slain contractor.
However, owing to some misunderstanding between the security personnel and the JAC, only selected people including the family members and the JAC were allowed to proceed towards the RIMS morgue which eventually aggravated the mob that were detained at Singjamei Police Station.
With the mob getting out of hand, security personnel fired tear gas in which atleast eight women were injured minorly.
However, after being treated first aid, they were said to be fine.
On the other hand, the commuters had to bear the inconveniences owing to the mob which caused sort of a jam for about three hours.
Commutters were also forced to take alternate routes due to the chaotic condition at Kakwa.
