Imphal, October 29 2010:
In protest against the much delayed implementation of the revised UGC pay scales and age of superannuation as per scheme, teachers of Government colleges in Manipur have taken mass casual leave for two days starting from today.
In a statement, convenor of Federation of College Teachers' Association, Manipur (FECTAM) M Lokendro Singh announced that this step has been taken following the failure of the Government to implement the revised UGC scale of pay and age of superannuation as per a scheme inspite of repeated assurances (verbal and written).
Lokendro reminded that FECTAM had already submitted a notice to the Chief Secretary of Manipur on October 25 in this regard.
The revised UGC pay scales have already been implemented in 27 States out of 28 States in India.
Moreover, in Manipur, all the Departments with exception to Government College teachers have started receiving the revised pay scales, said the aggrieved college teachers.
