Rs 20 lakh award for Kh Kothajit

The State Government today honoured hockey player Kh Kothajit, a member of the Indian hockey team which took part in the recently concluded London Olympics with a cash incentive of Rs 20 lakhs.
Chief Minister O Ibobi who also holds the additional portfolio of Youth Affairs and Sports presented a cheque of Rs 20 lakhs to Kh Kothajit in a simple function held in the office chamber of the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
Speaking at the occasion, O Ibobi said that the Government had to accord Olympian status to Kh Kothajit since he was a member of the Indian hockey team which played in London Olympics.
He also regretted the exclusion of Kothajit from the reception ceremony hosted by the State Government recently in honour of the London Olympians.
Manipur Olympic Association president Bijoy Koijam, YAS Director H Deleep Singh, former Olympian and Manipur Hockey president Ksh Tomba, Posterial Hockey Academy Imphal secretary Ksh Romesh, Kothajit's father Kh Dhananjoy and officials of Sports Department were also present at the function, informed a press release issued by the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
