Imphal, May 20 2012:
With the trees planted to make Imphal a Green City in the last term all drying up due to lack of proper attention, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today planted various well grown trees to replace them.
Home Minister Gaikhangam and other MLAs were also present at the tree plantation drive.
Chief Minister along with his team planted around 50 well-grown trees in and around Dharmasala and Thangal Bazaar.
Interestingly, some of the trees were even taller than the Chief Minister himself.
Replying to a query, Chief Minister Ibobi said that the previously planted trees have all dried up since they were planted at a very early stage.

But this time, the tress would not dry up as all the trees are well-grown ones.
The Chief Minister also expressed sadness over the comments of the student organizations that the Congress and the state government are remaining silent over the death of Richard Loitam.
The state government has been doing everything possible to bring out the truth behind the death and will continue further, he added.
