Continuing with the Apunba Lup's strategy of mass court arrest in their pursuit for justice regarding the Khwairamband Market killing of July 23, large groups of Meira Paibi activists marched towards different police stations across the State courting mass arrest.
Pallel: More than 50 Meira Paibi activists of both the valley and the hills came to Pallel police outpost today asking for their own arrest.
In their attempt to thwart the agenda of the Meira Paibis.
personnel of Pallel police outpost including women person nel led by the OC tried to block the women activists.
But the Meira Paibis managed to make their way till the gate of the outpost.
There the Meira Paibis and the police personnel were seen engaged in a tussle.
Waikhong: Taking part in the mass court arrest movement, a large of women activists belonging to villages located between Wabagai and Tangjeng marched towards Waikhong police station courting arrest.
After assembling at Thongjao at about 3 pm, the Meira Paibis marched up to the gate of Waikhong police station.
Imphal City: Supporting the call of the Apunba Lup for courting mass arrest, a large number of women vendors of Khwairamband Keithel, marched to City police station this afternoon offering themselves to be arrested.
But the women activists cum vendors were blocked by police before they could reach the police station.
Out of the protesters, City Police detained 21 only to be released later.
The women protesters shouted slogans like "Arrest us", "Punish commandos involved in killing innocent civilians", "Resign, Chief Minister O Ibobi".
Irilbung: Courting their own arrest, a large number of women marched towards Irilbung police station simultaneously from Bamon Kampu and Keirao/Kshetrigao side today.
The group coming from Keirao/Kshetrigao side first set ablaze effigies of Chief Minister O Ibobi and then courted mass arrest.
But they were driven back by police using tear gas shells and stun bombs.
On the other hand, a protest demonstration staged against the Khwairamband killing at Yurembam Keithel was scattered by police using mock bombs and tear gas shells.
Earlier, police asked the protesters to wind up the pro test demonstration within a specified period.
This resulted in a serious altercation between the two sides before police resorted to tear gas shells and mock bombs.
A similar protest demonstration was also staged near.
Takyel Khongbal Ubakthong.
Local Meira Paibis of Singjamei Pebiya Pandit Leikai also demonstrated against the Khwairamband killing.
They also burnt effigy of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi.
Chanting such slogans as "Punish commandos involved in the Khwairamband killing", "Stop killing people" etc, Meira Paibis of Kumbi Apunba Nupi Lup, Thanga Lawai Sabal Leikai, Terakhong Sabal Leikai, Kumbi Terakhong, Wangoo Naodakhong, Ikhai Wapokpi and Kumbi Setapur burnt effigies of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi.
