Two highway extortionists, three UGs held

Imphal, March 16 2011:
Two persons who allegedly extorted money from trucks playing on NH 39 were apprehended by troops of 5 AR on Monday and handed over to Senapati PS, an official report said today.
Lohrii Adam (54) of Senapati bazar and K Tho (55) of Khabung Karong village were apprehended in a shop by the troops while they were collecting money from a truck, five km to the north of Senapati PS.
Extortion lists of KRA, GPRN and KNF were also recovered from the shop when the troops conducted a search, the source said.
Three UGs, one KYKL and two KCP(MC) were arrested in separate counter insurgency operations conducted by police commandos and AR troops in the last 24-hours.The KYKL cadre, Maibam Jackie Chan @ Nicky (21) of Wangjing Wangkhei, was apprehended by a team of Thoubal Police Commandos during a frisking at Wangjing near YK College yesterday.
He joined the outfit in July 2008 and had obtained basic military training in Myanmar, a statement of the Additional SP Thoubal said today.
Two KCP (MC) cadres belonging to the Lamyanba Kuman faction were also apprehended by a combined team of Imphal West Police Commandos and troops of 43 AR from Phayeng Khunou yesterday around 3 pm.
They were identified as Thounaojam Angangjao @ Pakhang (35) of Koutruk Ching Leikai and Angom Ashok Kumar Singh (36) of Phayeng Ching Khunou.
One 9 mm pistol with a magazine having one live round was seized from the possession of Ashok Kumar, a statement of the Imphal West Senior SP said.
