'Unauthorised buildings to be dismantled'

Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro has informed that all the unauthorized buildings inside the campus of DC College would be dismantled and removed.
The Minister made the announcement while inaugurating a week-long social service camp at the college today.
The camp is being organised under the initiative of the Education Minister and MLA Joykishan with NGOs and student communities taking active part in making the college campus neat and clean.
Of late, the college campus has become so dirty following failure of the drainage system.
After inauguration of the camp, Minister M Okendro along with MLA Joykishan also inspected the Art, Science and Commerce Block of the college including Hostels and B Ed College.

Expressing discontentment over the prevailing condition, the Minister assured that all the unauthorized buildings would be dismantled and the encroachers would be evicted.
"While the State Government trying to convert the College into a Deemed University, it is very disheartening to see the pathetic condition of the college", the Minister said, adding that to make it look like a real college and to bring it up to the level of a Deemed University, all the halls and buildings constructed inside the college campus without official authorization would be dismantled very soon.
All the buildings constructed in the middle of the playground of Commerce block; the CPWD quarters; private residences in front of the Boys Hostel, DM Science would be removed and all the encroachers would be driven out once and for all.
Apart from this, the students' hostel constructed under MOBC would be converted into a Girls' Hostel after discussing the matter with technical experts, the Minister said.
He went on to assure that if any problems, which are beyond the capacity of Education Department, come up while executing the dismantling process, the matter would be brought up in the Cabinet for discussion minutely.
To ease the process and to find out the exact demarcation of the College, all land records have been called from the Settlement Office.
He also instructed the accompanying officials for making necessary measures for converting the newly constructed Girls' Hostel beside the Boys Hostel of DM College of Commerce into a Boys' Hostel.
The Minister also directed the officials concerned for making the Administrative Block of the B Ed College operational and ordered dismantling of the Mini Sport Indoor Hall constructed just at the entrance of B Ed College.
Furthermore, the Minister instructed the college authorities to construct toilets for the students and staffs members.
The Minister also assured that the three gates of the College would be constructed newly and security personnel would be deployed at the entrances to prevent entry of outsiders inside the college.
