Imphal, November 04 2010:
The Ministry of Human Resource Development has expressed reservations against the State Government's plan of laying the foundation stone of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University by AICC president Sonia Gandhi during her proposed visit to the State.
A reliable source informed that laying the foundation stone for the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University was the latest addition to Sonia Gandhi's programme and itinerary which include inauguration of the three newly constructed market complexes of Khwairamband Keithel, inauguration of Khuga Dam and inauguration of the Muslim Girls' Hostel.
Even as the programme of laying foundation stone for Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU) was added to Sonia Gandhi's itinerary, the Ministry of Human Resource Development informed the State Government through an e-mail that the question of who should lay foundation stone for IGNTU should be decided by the Executive Council of the Human Resource Development Ministry.
In response to the e-mail, the SPF Government sent a letter each to Sonia Gandhi and Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal that they may come together to the State so that the Union HRD Minister may lay foundation stone for the IGNTU campus.
