Shillong, November 01 2010:
The Deputy Commissioner of East Garo Hills has filed a complaint against the bomb attack by unidentified miscreants at his official residence at 3 am on October 29, barely five hours ahead of civic polls commencement.
According to the FIR, three crude petrol bombs were lobbed from the back of the residence by unidentified miscreants but they failed to explode as they fell short of the house and landed on the kitchen garden and could be defused on time.
The diabolical intention behind this act of cowardice and vengeance makes it genuinely an act of terror, Bakshi Pravin, Deputy Commissioner stated in the complaint.
The miscreants knew all too well that the deputy commissioner was out on the streets patrolling with Superintendent of Police, East Garo Hills and magistrates and performing duties as a government servant for something that is not personal but for explicit government policy and decision, he said.
He further stated that the miscreants also were absolutely aware that at that time at my residence his wife and two years old daughter were sleeping peacefully with two other maid servants.
They are unaware unconcerned and unconnected with all the events unfolding that night, he added.
This is an attempt to murder the kin of a government servant while he is away battling all odds for the government and to ensure peace and law and order, he said.
The deputy commissioner urged upon the concern authority to take appropriate actions against the criminals and be punished according to law.
At the same time the intention behind the grenade blast in the temple in Williamnagar is also diabolical and the clear intention is to foment trouble and communal disharmony at this crucial and delicate time, he said.
