Manipur close to completing EPIC exercise

Imphal, August 08, 2012: With the completion of elector's photo identity card (EPIC) exercise in 33 of the 60 assembly constituencies of Manipur, 98.29 percent of the EPIC processed has reportedly been achieved till date.

According to an informed source the remaining exercise is mostly confined to the assembly constituencies located in the hill districts.

For assembly segments under Imphal East district, photos of about 310 electors in Andro and Jiribam ACs are yet to be recorded/entered in the electoral roll while in Imphal West district constituencies the number of electors not covered by the exercise include 208 in Patsoi, 334 in Langthabal, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa-592, Wangoi-55 and 608 in Mayang Imphal AC.

Regarding Bishnupur constituency of Bishnupur district, photos of 679 electors are yet to be included in the electoral roll compared to 298 adults of Lilong AC under Thoubal district still to find their images in the electoral roll.

in Chandel and Tengnoupal ACs of chandel district the total number of voters still to be covered by the EPIC exercise has been put at over 5000 while there are about 8000 electors from three ACs of Ukhrul district whose photos are not yet pasted in the document.

Mao, Karong and Tadubi ACs in Senapati district have a total of over 400 electors not included in EPIC and nearly 10,000 electors from ACs of Tamenglong and CCpur districts left out of the ongoing exercise.

The source also claimed that the EPIC exercise being carried out at the instruction of election Commission of India is progressing in a satisfactory manner.
